The objective of the VRExpo project is the development of a platform for the easy creation of virtual-interactive booths and exhibition spaces—requiring no specialized technical knowledge—as well as for navigating these spaces via computer, tablet, mobile phone, and VR headsets. Through this platform, trade fairs that cannot be held in physical spaces with the physical presence of the public and exhibitors for any reason—as is the case during this period with the coronavirus pandemic—can be hosted and conducted in a virtual environment. The aim is the uninterrupted commercial promotion of products and services and the conclusion of commercial agreements.
The project is executed through the collaboration of two entities:
a) the company TETRAGON SA, which has played a leading role in recent decades in the design and implementation of exhibitions, exhibition spaces, and events for public and private bodies, organizations, and businesses both in Greece and abroad; and
b) the Information Technologies Institute (ITI) of the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH/EKETA), which, within the framework of various European research programs, develops software and tools for the composition of 3D experiences, among many other activities.
